Recognition Well Earned! Kilifi Regional Office Honoured for Leadership in Gender Equality

The Equality & Inclusion Thematic Group at the Kilifi Regional Office has been honoured by the Kenya-Finland Bilateral Program on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) for its exceptional leadership in advancing gender equality. This recognition underscores the group’s pivotal role in strengthening GBV response mechanisms, empowering survivors, and influencing local policies to foster a safer, more inclusive society.

The Kilifi Regional Office’s Equality & Inclusion Thematic Group has stood out for its communitydriven approach, ensuring that survivors receive holistic support while advocating for stronger local policies. Through collaborative efforts with civil society, local governments, and international partners, the group has implemented key interventions that have transformed the GBV landscape in the region.

The Kenya-Finland Bilateral Program on GBV has been instrumental in supporting such initiatives, reinforcing the power of international collaboration in tackling gender inequalities. By recognising grassroots leadership, the program highlights how locally driven solutions are key to achieving national and global gender equality goals, aligning with Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

While this recognition is a testament to the impact of grassroots action, it also serves as a call to sustain the momentum. The fight against GBV requires continued investment in survivor services, community education, and legal reforms.

With strengthened partnerships and increased resource allocation, the Kilifi Regional Office is poised to expand its impact beyond the region, inspiring similar initiatives across Kenya.
