The Commission, being an oversight body, has nearly 60% of its core function on monitoring, audit and investigation on the implementation of the Constitutional provisions on all aspects of gender equality and freedom from discrimination
We strengthen the capacity of public and private institutions to integrate principles of gender equality and freedom from discrimination in all administrative procedures, policies, laws and programmes. Additionally, the Commission will strengthen its systems and processes for receiving complaints and responding to any reported violations. The Commission will work with the relevant stakeholders in ensuring that timely redress is provided to victims of violations of principles of equality and inclusion.
NGEC also reports to Parliament on the status of gender equality and discrimination as well as ensuring compliance with treaties and conventions ratified by Kenya in relation to issues of equality and freedom from discrimination for all special Interest Groups
