Ringing the Bell for Equality: Commissioner Michael Mbithuka Advocates for Inclusive Change

In a powerful demonstration of commitment to advancing gender equality, Commissioner Michael Mbithuka of the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) attended the 11th annual Ring the Bell ceremony, an internationally recognised initiative calling for urgent action to empower women and girls.

The event, held on 6 March at the Serena Hotel, underscored the importance of dismantling systemic barriers that prevent women from realising their full potential.

The Ring the Bell initiative, which originated as a symbolic gesture on stock exchanges worldwide, has evolved into a global platform advocating for gender-inclusive policies across multiple sectors. This year’s ceremony brought together key stakeholders, policymakers, corporate leaders, and gender equality advocates, all united in their call for accelerated action to bridge gender disparities in social, economic, and political spheres accelerated action to bridge gender disparities in social, economic, and political spheres.

Commissioner Nzomo urged stakeholders to remain steadfast in their advocacy, stressing that gender equality is not just a moral imperative but an economic necessity. “When we empower women, we uplift entire communities and drive national development,” he remarked.
