Nomadic MCA Caucus holds forum on disability mainstreaming
Members of County Assemblies from the Nomadic Counties in Kenya under the auspices of the Northern Nomadic Disabled Persons’ Organization (NONDO) February held a meeting in Nairobi aimed at exploring ways of strengthening their capacity to push the disability agenda forward through devolution.
The discussions centred on legislative, representation and oversight roles of the members in their respective counties and mainstreaming disability into public services. The forum also proposed to develop a tool to track legislative laws and International Conventions and Declarations that affect persons with disabilities.
NGEC Vice chairperson Commissioner Simon Ndubai attended the event and urged participants to continue playing a proactive role to ensure issues of Special Interest Groups are welled articulated in the devolved system.
