NGEC and IRI sign MoU

NGEC has signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Republican Institute IRI on strategic areas of partnership which include undertaking capacity building for women county leaders and supporting the establishment of a gender-focused network for national and women county officials and civil society to coordinate gender mainstreaming.

Under the agreement, IRI will also use its SMS platform to disseminate advocacy messages on the realization of the two thirds gender principle as well as civic education messages on Discrimination, Inclusion and Affirmative action.

Speaking after the signing, Chairperson Winfred Lichuma said the two institutions would continue to explore other areas of partnership especially in getting the grassroots population to understand the framework for the implementation of the two thirds gender principle and to urge Kenyans to prevail upon Members of parliament to pass the Constitution of Kenya Amendment Bill No. 4 of 2015.
