NGEC makes presentation on Women Empowerment at CSW 63rd Session
The Commission attended the 63rd session of the Commission on the Status of women at The UN General Assembly in New York where Commissioners participated in the expert group meeting on the priority them dubbed social protection systems, public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality.
In her presentation on measuring progress on women’s economic empowerment at the sidelines of the General Assembly, Chairperson Dr. Joyce Mutinda, made a strong case for strengthening visibility, collective voice and representation, improving public sector practices in employment and procurement as well as ensuring protection and reforming discriminatory laws and regulations.
The Commission also participated in the Kenya and Sri Lanka side event on women investing in peace as well as a Kenyan side event on Beyond zero campaign aimed at eradicating maternal and child mortality.
