Commission Now Full House With Appointment Of Two More Members
For the first time, the Commission has the full compliment of five appointed members following the swearing in of Commissioner Caroline Naikena Lentupuru and Commissioner Thomas Okoth Koyier on Wednesday December 22, 2021. The two join the Chairperson Dr. Joyce Mutinda (PhD) EBS, Vice Chairperson Dr. Chomba wa Munyi (PhD) MBS and Commissioner Hon. Priscilla Nyokabi Kanyua EBS to complete the full Commission.
The two were sworn in by Chief Justice Martha Koome at the Supreme Court of Kenya following a rigorous and successful recruitment process and appointment by H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta. The swearing in ceremony was witnessed by Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Gender and Social Protection Prof. Margaret Kobia.
In her speech Prof. Kobia urged the new Commissioners to support the country achieve gender parity across political, social and economic sectors. Chief Justice Martha Koome pledged the Judiciary’s support to the Commission in ensuring the promotion and mainstreaming of gender equality and inclusion.
