The Malindi Regional Office of NGEC serves 6 counties across the Coast Region of Kenya. Located at Malindi Complex Building, Ground Floor, next to Pioneer Insurance, off the Lamu Road, the office promotes gender equality and social inclusion, receives and processes complaints, conducts public education programmes, and leads key partnerships across the region.

Kenya Red Cross Society – GBV MFA Project
A four-year Kenya-Finland Bilateral Programme on GBV prevention implemented jointly with the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRS), focusing on gender and disability inclusion in Magarini Sub-County, Kilifi County (2022–2026). The NGEC Malindi Regional Office provided technical support by facilitating key sessions for stakeholders and the community, and conducting coordination meetings with duty bearers and persons with disabilities. The project close-out meeting is scheduled for 31st March 2026 at Mapimo Polytechnic, Magarini Sub-County.
National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) – Panel of Experts
The Malindi Office serves as a Panel of Experts (POE) in the NAVCDP, a five-year World Bank-financed project implemented by the County Government of Kilifi. The project seeks to increase market participation and value addition for targeted farmers in select value chains. The Commission oversees the implementation of gender mainstreaming initiatives, inclusion, grievance management, and safeguarding against Sexual Exploitation and Harassment (SEAH).
Enabling Gender-Responsive Circular and Sustainable Blue Economies Project
The Malindi Office is a member of the Project Technical Committee (PTC) for this initiative, which promotes gender-responsive approaches within coastal and marine economies. The project addresses equitable participation in the blue economy, sustainable resource use, and circular business models for coastal communities.
UN Women Blue Economy Project (Canada MPTF)
In partnership with UN Women, the office is implementing a four-year project funded by the Government of Canada through the Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF). The project facilitates a gender-responsive transition to a sustainable blue economy by integrating circular business models and innovative financing mechanisms for coastal communities.

Court Users Committees (CUCs)
The Malindi Office is an active member of multiple Court Users Committees to ensure gender and inclusion issues are addressed across the justice chain. Current memberships include:
The office is in the process of formally submitting a request to join the Mombasa High Court CUC.
Gender Sector Working Group (GSWG)
The Commission chairs the Equality and Inclusion Technical Working Group (EITWG) under the Gender Sector Working Group (GSWG) in Kilifi County and is in the process of strengthening and establishing EITWGs across the remaining five counties. The Malindi Regional Office is also a member of the Gender Sector Working Group in all six Coastal counties, which has enhanced the Commission's role in monitoring gender mainstreaming at the County level.

Kilifi County Older Members of Society Steering Committee
Enhances the rights and protection of older members of society in Kilifi County, where there is rampant abuse. The office supports advocacy for elderly-responsive county policies and services.
Kilifi County Children Advisory Committee
Provides guidance and oversight on child welfare and protection in Kilifi County. The office contributes gender and inclusion expertise to child-focused policy and programming.
Malindi GBV Network
Brings together state and non-state actors working on prevention and response to GBV in Malindi and Magarini Sub-counties of Kilifi County.
Kilifi Social Protection Stakeholders Forum
Consists of state and non-state actors working on promoting the rights of vulnerable groups, including SIGs, and enhancing social welfare across Kilifi County.

Policy Formulation Support & Review
The Malindi Regional Office has worked closely with Kilifi, Kwale, Taita-Taveta, Lamu, and Tana River counties in the development of key SGBV policies, domesticating the NGEC Model Legislative Framework on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence for County Governments. The office has supported all six Coastal county governments in the development and review of gender and GBV policies. Notable policies include:
