The Commission watched brief on 11th June 2025 when the matter (R vs Brian Gachie) came up for hearing in Nyeri Chief Magistrate Courts (2) before Hon Obara Three prosecution witnesses testified namely: the minor (Cliff), The mother to the minor and a teacher to the minor. A Bond of kshs 300,000 with one surety granted, No cash bail. Further Hearing fixed on 17th July 2025.

The Constitution of Kenya, 2010 requires the State under Articles 27 (6 &8) to take legislative and other measures, including affirmative action programs and policies designed to redress any disadvantage suffered by individuals or groups because of past discrimination, and to implement the principle that not more than two-thirds of the members of elective or appointive bodies shall be of the same gender.

Gender equality in publicly listed compa nies accrues benefits to women across all strata which include; breaking corporate ascension barriers for women, increased representation in terms of advocacy for policies and practices that benefit women at all levels of the organization, and the opportunity to seek counsel, support, and guidance from mentors and role models. This is particularly beneficial for women occupying lower-level positions within and outside the organization, as they might be deprived of visibility or mentorship opportunities.

In 2003, Kenya introduced the public sector Performance Contracting (PC) process as one of the key accountability framework aimed at improving service delivery in the public service. In 2013, the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) integrated the first bunch of limited indicators on Gender Mainstreaming and over the years improved on them to incorporate dimensions of Inclusion (GMI). In the 19th cycle of public sector PC for Financial Year (FY) 2022/2023, NGEC and the State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action (SDGAA) presented Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with a reporting template and a minimum set of GMI indicators1.
