More than 120 caregivers have completed a three-day training on the Nurturing Care Framework, facilitated by the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) through its Isiolo Regional Office.

The Aga Khan University Institute for Human Development (AKU-IHD) supported the training, which covered health, nutrition, responsive caregiving, early learning, and safety and security. Those are the conditions children need to grow, learn and thrive.

The Commission works to see that equality, inclusion and children’s rights run through programmes and systems at community level, through capacity-building, public education, stakeholder coordination, monitoring and evidence-based advocacy.

WHO CARRIES THE RISK

Children in vulnerable and marginalized communities have the most at stake. They meet additional barriers to essential services and opportunities, and the care they receive today shapes the future they grow into. Article 53 of the Constitution guarantees every child basic nutrition, shelter and health care, protection from abuse and neglect, and free and compulsory basic education.

WORK CONTINUES

The Commission will keep working with counties, communities and partners on child-centered, inclusive and rights-based approaches, so that every child has a fair chance to thrive.
