The Commission’s Garissa Regional Office joined government agencies, UN partners and civil society organisations for the quarterly County Child Protection and Gender Technical Working Group meeting.
The meeting reviewed the status of missing children, ongoing gender-based violence interventions and responses to the growing challenge of street-connected children. Participants agreed to strengthen multi-agency collaboration, improve child tracking and data management, enhance community awareness and reinforce referral and protection mechanisms.
The focus on coordination reflects the practical reality that protecting children requires institutions to work together rather than operate in isolation.
Garissa Partners Address Missing Children and GBV
The County Child Protection and Gender Technical Working Group also engaged the Garissa County Commissioner and County Police Commander on the status of gender-based violence and cases of missing children.
The discussions focused on prevention, protection, coordinated response and accountability for the safety and well-being of women, girls and children.
The engagement brought together county-level actors around issues requiring timely information sharing and coordinated institutional response.
