The Commission’s Kitui Regional Office joined partners and residents in an Anti-Femicide and Gender-Based Violence Awareness Walk to raise public awareness on prevention and survivor protection.
The engagement called on communities to reject the normalisation of violence against women and girls, encourage survivors to seek support, report abuse through appropriate channels and strengthen community vigilance.
The initiative comes as Kenya works to implement recommendations of the Presidential Technical Working Group on Gender-Based Violence, including Femicide.
The walk reinforced the importance of early intervention and community responsibility in preventing violence before it escalates.
