The National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) has established an inter-country regional office in Lodwar covering the Ateker and North Rift region.
The office led by the Region’s Coordinator Nahashon Lotaruk paid a courtesy call on the Turkana County Commissioner in its first formal engagement with the county administration.
The visit introduced the regional office and its mandate and set out the areas of collaboration between the Commission and the administration going forward.
Discussions covered the Commission’s forthcoming Turkana County mission, under which it will engage directly with communities and county leadership on the gender and equality issues affecting the region.
The County Commissioner received the delegation and undertook to work closely with the Lodwar regional office.
