The Commission is advancing efforts to strengthen the use of evidence in gender equality policy and decision-making through the National Gender Research Agenda (NGRA) for Kenya.

The agenda seeks to address the fragmentation of gender research by improving coordination, identifying priority research areas and strengthening the connection between evidence, policy and programming.

It proposes measures including alignment with the Gender Sector Statistics Plan, establishment of a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Data Hub, capacity building for data producers and users, and stronger partnerships across the gender and education sectors.

The agenda also identifies emerging areas including Artificial Intelligence, climate change, gender-based violence, crises and the digital divide.

For policymakers, researchers, development partners and communicators, the NGRA provides a framework for identifying evidence gaps and directing research towards issues that can inform practical decisions.

Its central value lies in moving research beyond production and publication towards evidence that can be understood, applied and used to address persistent inequalities.
